Available dock space

Down here in Florida, many of our marinas have been purchased, demolished and replaced with condos. The few boat ramps in our area are crowed and sometimes the parking lots are filled beyond capacity.

Another trend coming is dockominiums, where folks can purchase their dock space. Sometimes these dock spaces can run into six figures. Rented spaces run somewhere in the neighborhood of $15.00 per foot, if you can find one.

I am just curious, Is this something unique to our area , or is there other areas in the country experiencing the same phenomena?

Also, if you are experiencing growth on your waterfronts , pressure your local governments to set property aside for launch sites. Most of the available land in our area was purchased by developers for condos before someone realized there was not room for launch ramps. Now it's to late to do anything about it.

The result for the county north of me is 2 boat ramps and forty thousand registered boats in that county. Unfortunately, us folks with boats on trailers don't seem to be very high on the political priority list.
