Obsolete Evinrude parts...

I've been working on this 1983 Evinrude 2hp (E2RCTD). It is tiny and light and I thought it was going to be perfect for my CP-16.
The main issue with it is very low compression. It runs at high rpm, stalls low to mid. Compression measured low (40s).
On visual inspection, the bore looks alright, I ordered a new headgasket, the rings cap, when inserted into the bore, is right at the far end of the spec.

I wanted to put in new rings but they apparently are no longer made.
What would you do?

As a long shot, I was looking at this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012CWAMK6 - the rings are right size and the piston pins are in the right place (just above the grooves)...

still, the part  you found is sooo much cheaper.. I'd be tempted to try it if I were you.

I have never replaced rings with anything other than the exact replacement part. That is the source of my hesitation...
But I am also very excited to try :)

Check out the linked Forum. I use it often. A lot of seasoned mechanics chime in to answer questions.
