23- Long Voyages?

   Any of you 23er's ever take any real long voyages? I'd love to hear about 'em. I'm thinking about some coastal cruising (East coast) and would like some feedback from anyone who has done extensive cruising in a 23. Mine's an outboard powered, 1985 in wonderful condition but she's led a sheltered life up till now.

I took a similarily sized sloop down the intracoastal between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. My Seaforth Coastal Cruiser had an outboard in a well which helped alot going through the passes.

If the cuts are running, you could get in trouble as your CP will buck like crazy and your outboard will come out of the water every time you crest a wave. If your motor dies you could be quickly blown into the boat-crushing rip-rap that boarders some of the cuts.

The long voyages I have in mind are from NJ down to North Carolina via the Atlantic. Not too interested in the ICW. Too much motoring.
