Boat movers?

HI all,

Just sold my Eclipse to a couple from Miami.  He's puzzling on how to get the boat from Punta Gorda over there since I don't have a trailer.  Anyone have an empty one that they could rent?  Anyone have a contact to a boat mover?  He's thinking about buying a trailer but doesn't really need one once the boat is over there. 

Any help appreciated.

I just used uShip.com to get my "new" Day Cat hauled from southern Indiana to eastern Va.  The website is pretty simple and you get pretty quick responses from folks who are making a living hauling things around the countryside.

If I lived in Miami with a boat between the months of June and October, I'd want that trailer. Just saying.

Wes has a good point. I too would want a way to get outa Dodge when the storms come if need be! Cheap insurance.

New owner messaged that he ordered a new trailer from the local ComPac dealer.  They are telling him at least a week.  Works for me.  He came to the same conclusion regarding storms.  They get a lot more named storms over there on the east side then we do here.  Punta Gorda has a good track record for big storms, they are very rare compared to the rest of the SE US.

Boat survived Irma in the water with the mast down and the boat stripped, just fine, although that was not a direct hit.  After making landfall near Naples she turned east.  Luck of the draw. 

There is a reason boat insurance is so expensive here.  I figure they can pay out if needed.  You can only do so much to protect from a storm other than putting the boat on a trailer and getting out of Dodge.  The boat is insured for what I paid for it with an agreed value policy.  I'll get a different one if I lose this one.  No big deal.  Just another plus of having a relatively cheap (small) used boat.  Bang for the buck is through the roof compared to a new $70,000 Corsair 24 Sprint.

A trip from Punta Gorda to Miami would take about 4 maybe 5 days crossing the Ocochobee Waterway.  I'd bring the boat to him in Miami and tie it up to his dock for $600.  How much was that trailer he's only going to use once?
