Gaskets for ports

My gaskets for brass ports are dried up and cracking.  I contacted Matt at Hutchins and he said they no longer have a supplier for these.  He suggested I check Home Depot.  I don't live close to a Home Depot.  Does anyone have a source or spec for these gaskets?

2nd, I read all of the posts about a CP23 trailer, so I think I can build one, but nowhere did I see a trailer size.  What size trailer do I want?

Thanks for the help.

What size ports are in your 23?

Are they the round ports, or ovals?

The reason I ask, I recently purchased new gaskets from compac. They came in a sealed box marked perco, 10 feet.

I have oval ports.  I will check Perks.

I bought some porthole seals for my CP23 which I no longer own, so I don't recall the shape.
They were more expensive than I had expected, through a compac dealer.
I remember thinking at the time that I should have made my own.
You can get a variety of rubber extruded profiles from various vendors.

Hey Ralph, just to get ya by till you get more put little vasoline on the existing ones. Meanwhile on the 23 we previously had, (an 90 , Mk3) with the rectangular bronze ports, we ordered a set from Hutchins but ended up returning them all as they simply would not fit well. Way too tight! We then ordered from:  http://www.downwindmarine.com/Portlight-Gasket-Seal-Hollow-Black-Rubber-p-90891254.html

Perfect! the hollow core makes them adapt to the vagaries of the cast bronze and less expensive. Remember to put the seam at the top.

Hope this helps.

Mas, thanks for the link.  I ordered some of this gasket material today.  I'll let you know how it works.

I replaced the oval bronze  port light gaskets on my 1996 23'. They are wording great. The product from Defender (800-628-8225) is item #901171GKT038    (WEFC HOLLOW PORTLIGHT GASKET )

I recently replaced my round gaskets on my '87 23 MK II with Perko gasket material. The old ones I removed were one piece, but the replacement material came in a 10 or 15 ft length which had to be cut to fit. One tip: use a light coat rubber or contact cement to hold the gasket material in place as it wants to pop out of the channel while you're  trying to install it.
