Well we had grand plans, the daughter and I, of sailing north to Waretown and eating lunch/dinner at the Galley Grill. The G squared is a small quaint little diner with nautical decor on the water front. We've been there by car and thought it would be neat to go by boat on our way to Tice's Shoal to spend the night.

First we got a late start, left dock around 12 noon, the second...NO WIND! We had to use the 'Iron Wind' ninety percent of the trip and then when we did sail we barely made 1.5 mph. So it was a 4.5 hr trip but we made it, along the way we crashed our way through numerous large boat wakes and Robin even tried a little fishing.

Came past a group of Lightning's out practicing and saw many sailboats slowly making their way across the bay. My daughter had about enough of the boat for the day so we decided against the sleep over and figured we would settle on just making it to the diner, at which my wife and mother-in-law planed to join us.

As we rounded the breakwater and headed for the first open berth what do you think happened? Half way in we came to a sudden stop as the keel settle into the bottom. I quickly sprang to my feet to spin the motor around, in the process I lost my sun glasses over board. With the motor set in full throttle setting I then instructed my daughter to join me on the port side to heel her over, slowly 'Floridaze' eased back and out of the mud.

After tying up on the outside of the breakwater we joined the ladies for a much needed meal. After which Robin abandoned ship to ride home with grandma as my wife retrieved my truck and trailer. I motored back up to the Barnegat public dock where we pulled the old Com-Pac from the water thus ended her first sea trial under new ownership. A total of six days in the water yielded a nice layer of slim on the bottom, no bottom paint of course, but I was most surprised how quickly a boat can get dirty.
