Gus,

I installed the following in my boat: https://www.westmarine.com/buy/marinco--4-stainless-steel-solar-powered-nicro-vent--10447100?recordNum=1

It doesn't unscrew like yours, but doesn't have as much extension into the interior, and came with a white trim ring for the interior. Yours must be a new item as I didn't see it when I purchased mine last year. From the description, it requires a slightly larger cut out than the old style.

I don't know, to me, it looks a little odd that sticks out that much. Also, if you look, you can see where water was coming in for God knows how long.

I would return it if I could. The last thing you want from a vent is to leak water. Here in Florida the inside of your boat would be black with mold in no time. I haven't had any problem with mine. Apparently yours is a new style. I read a review which indicated several issues with the new style, so contact the manufacturer or stateside distributor if necessary.

A mouse around the house - but much hotter on the water

No, this is isn't leaking. The one that came with the boat, a regular vent, it was leaking.
