Ordered Precision Sails for my little girl, new series 400 main and 135 genoa.  Now I'm thinking since I'm working again that I should compliment the genoa with a 90 working jib.  Does this seem reasonable?

Charlie, i know you must have a fleet of sails.  Do you use your working jib often?

Looking for ideas and opinions???

thanks guys,
Wayne

This is what happens when you come out of retirement and take a short term job working in PA...  brrrrr.  home by June 1 or before.

Wayne,

I also have a 135 jib and two reef points in my main.  The jib does not loose shape when rolled into a 100.  With the double reef and the jib rolled into the 100 size 30 knot winds are no problem.  Anything over that I use one or the other sail to easily reach hull speed.

Hey Wayne:
You have to stop working and start sailing more!  It is what retirement is for.

If you have a furling jib then BobK is right on.  (The next boat will have a a furling jib)

Due to the generosity of ComPac-27 skippers and that early 27's came with a hank on 110 which were mostly unused. Almost everyone immediately installed furling and a 135.  I wound up with three 110's that were in pretty good shape. Gave away the furler when we bought Windrunner, removed the sun guard and had hanks put on the 135.  Used the best 110 as is.  Had the second best cut down to about a 100-90.  Gave the third 110 to the sailmaker.  Acquired a nice asymmetrical jib along the way.  The main was an '88 Johnson  with one fairly deep reef.

Mostly used the 110 with reefed main or main, or the asymmetric jib by itself.

With hank ons it took me about 10-15 minutes to change jibs.  It also seemed like that as soon as I changed jibs the wind would also change!

I would think that with a furler changing smaller jib would be a decision made before leaving the dock.
