CP 27 Baltimore Newbee

Hi everyone!  Not new to sailing, but new to Com-Pac.  Just settled on a 1988 CP 27 which was owned for 16 years by a doctor in Annapolis, MD.  At least he took care of it.  Engine hours 873....Nice to have a private dock at your home!!! New stack-pack, newer sails, auto-helm, etc. survey came back noting one light bulb, and add a CO2 monitor!  Anyway, I have owned,a Pearson 27-2, 28-2, Hunter 28.5, and a few Cape Dory typhoons. This by far is one salty classic.  I could just sit in the cabin and enjoy all the teak.....Nice!
I have not sailed her yet since taking ownership since she is now on the hard. Hopefully before the snow flies I can move her from Annapolis to the Baltimore area. The only item I seem to have difficulty finding is gaskets for the bronze ports.  However, there seems to be enough postings discussing this issue since the factory no longer has these.  Small winter project.  Fair winds to all!! What is a "stack-pack"?

Thanks for the reply.  Stack Pack is more or less a bag for the main between the lazy jacks. So, instead of wrestling a sail cover, just open the bag, drop the main into it, zip it shut.  Old guy had the boat before me, so along with that he installed some sort of effortless main track system.  A Three year old could get the main raised in one or two pulls.  Keeps you hands free for rum!

I too own a 27, I bought her last fall and just finished my first season with her.  She is an 89 also with low motor hours and even still the original sails, but no sweet options.  For now she in on the Barnagat in NJ where I purchased her, but I plan to move her to Annapolis in the next year or so.

Although I have sailed for over 25 years, this is my first boat.  I fell in love with my 27 and did the same thing at first, just enjoyed sitting inside and taking in all the salty beauty!

There is some good stuff on this Board, and knowledgeable and friendly folks.

Looked at a few boats there also.  Summers on Long Beach Island.
Annapolis is great!  Bring your wallet...............

I've owned my 19 for over a decade, I still go below and just sit down and marvel at all the teak!

Then I start to think about all the things I want/need to do to make it even better than I deserve.

Then I take a nap, till the admiral finds me.

Hey Brad, congrats on the new to you boat! A good guy, Peter G, who has been hugely helpful in my return to sailing, turned me on to these port gaskets which i used on a 23 we had for a bit. Check them out. Not sure what size the 27 uses, the 23's size is highlighted. Not the best task to do when really cold, so try to accomplish before winter sets in. A little petroleum jelly on the old ones may get you through till new ones are on the way!
