I'm the new owner of a C-19, 1991, which I'll be sailing on Lake Windermere in the north west of England.
I have sailed extensively in larger boats, including the eastern seaboard of the USA, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. I now look forward to more minimalistic sailing on my new boat, in my own country, and to participating in this owners forum.

Welcome Aboard JohnS,

I think that you will find this to be a great forum for sharing ideas about our wonderful little boats.  Congratulations on the purchase.

Hi John, welcome to the com-pac family.

Gil Weiss

Greetings John,

Welcome to the group.  I sailed a GP14 for several years before my Com Pac. My particular GP was made in Ireland way back in the late 60's.

I wonder how many Com Pacs are on the "other side of the pond"? Did you buy your boat in England?

Cheers, Gil

JohnS

Thanks Gil.
Yes, I bought her in England. I know of three Com-Pac 19's shipped from the factory but have not located the other two. They were imported by the now defunct Island Packet Yachts Ltd and I believe they were offered as the Compac 20.

cheers,

John

John,

I looked Lake Windermere up on the internet and it looks like a beautiful place to sail.  What is your sailing season like there?  Can you sail year round? How crowded is your lake?

Right  now my boat is resting under a blanket of snow waiting for spring which will come in April here in Michigan, USA.

Roger,

Whilst it is possible to sail year round, you need to be pretty dedicated to do so. Typically we sail April to October, with a few hardy souls extending the season beyond that. We don't get much snow, but it can be wet and miserable for most of the winter.

JohnS,
From me to you 'Welcome to the site'
Having a Com-Pac 19 XL I hope that you'll enjoy your boat as much as
many of us appear to be doing.
I wondered right away if your boat [name?] had a bow sprit?
Post a pic when you get a chance to. Skip.
