I am aware of the specifications of each boat, but would like to compare the sailing qualities of the CP-16 against the P-165.  Thanks

P-165 is usually be compared w/R17 in my yacht club.
R17 is a 17 feet daysailor, http://www.rivre.co.jp/actus/index.html.
CP16 is usually be considered by people who wants to have seaworthy mini cruiser.
Both are nice boat.  For me? I like my Cat.

I own a CP16 but have sailed a Precision. Quick review -

In my opinion, CP 16 is built better with heavier fiberglass hull sides - less flex. I also like the hardware better on the ComPac. MY all teak interior is much nicer than the stark Precision, but one does not typically spend lots of time inside.

Precision is similar in size and layout and ability to hold people. It is a bit quicker but a bit less stable. Both sail well.

While I love my CP16 and ComPacs in general, there are also lots of Precisions where I sail.  It boils down to which you can get a good deal on and which shape you prefer.

My 2 cents!
