Hello, I am a new owner of a 88 CP-16.  I was wondering if anyone knows the safe in-water weight capacity of the CP-16?  I have the original owners manual, but it does not give these numbers.
I plan to sail around the san juans in WA some time this summer w/ family and camping equipment.

thanks!

HI Jeremy...
Boy... are you lucky!!! the San Juan Islands are a summer sailing dreamland... the CURRENTS can be FIERCE though...

I don't know of a specific number on capacity, but I have an '88 16 also and although I usually go out alone or with one or two persons on board, I have carried three adults and four kids on board.  Bob Burgess writes about loading his 16 with camping and Dive Gear (multiple air tanks, weight belts, etc.) so you should be OK with your fam and some gear.  The Coast Guard sticker has long faded on my stern but you might try contacting the factory about the exact number... I'd be interested in knowing also, so when you find out it would be nice to have it posted.

Enjoy the beautiful Pacific Northwest!
