i just received a message from the editor of Small Craft Advisor magazine. He requested information on CLR 2018. As it is a bit early to start planning the event, i couldn't provide any information at this time. I'm thinking that the last week of june worked out pretty well, but would like some input from attendees about dates and ways to improve the event. i have decided that next years CLR cup race course will be triangular with the marks 1/3 mile apart to make them easy to see. Also, the starting procedure will be changed to the traditional start while under sail. Although i thought the "le Mans" start was a good idea, it did present some problems and it seemed to favor those sailing with a crew. start times "by the clock" will be given to each crew. for example--if you are given a start time of 1130 am then you will be responsible for crossing the start line at that time. If you are late to the line thats ok you are still in the race.  the honor system will be in effect.  As always the "race" is just for laughs and those who are uncomfortable should still follow along and gain some good sailing experience. At this event, racing is about fun, photos and goofy trophies. I would still like to have a "Cruise to the Silo" this year as the anchorage west of the silo at point 5 is a perfect spot for a raft up. very nice sand bottom and great view of the lake. I think that the corn hole competition went well. For 2018 i will have a regular tourney bracket and prizes will be awarded. we might also utilize the marina's fire pit for drinking, lying and marshmellow sacrifice. Anyway, let me know what you think. It would be nice to have our event on the Small Craft Advisor calender and maybe someone can submit a piece about CLR 2018.  thanks to all.  Steve Bender  317) 292 0258   or   fordtruck52@yahoo

All sounds good to me. That week works good for all us old retired salts, it's those sailors still working that have to work around vacations. Is there a way to invite some sailors that can't bring there boats to fill in the crews for some of us, I know Bob is usually there, but I'm talking about sailors not PBR drinkers. You have done a great job in the past and sure you will continue.

roger, i guess i could post bring a friend along if you want. i sure would like to have more boats though. 20 would be nice. maybe the calender post in SCA will help some. i think a different variety of boats would make it more fun.  Al, hope to see you there.

Hey Steve,

I haven't had a chance to get the photos over to Josh @ small craft advisor yet.  Work is kicking my butt (working late) and I'm out of town this weekend. So early next week is the plan....

talked with josh at small craft advisor and our event will be listed on their calender. He is posting the last week of June but that may have to change due to family concerns. as soon as i know the actual dates i will post them (possibly the first week of June). He posted my e mail address and the com-pac site so those interested beyond  the CYOA will get the information. Sorry about the mix up but i will blame it on Sarah as she sprung this on me out of the blue.
