I have a 1985 19 which is sailed on Oregon Lakes.  Am considering a change this year to halyards and other lines run to the cockpit.  At 70, it is getting more difficult to go forward to reef or deal with forward sail concerns.  Have already converted to roller furling on this boat  but would like some step by step on installation of turning blocks, mounting deck hardware (also choices of same), sealant choices (other than 5200), and comments on other related mods(lazy jacks come to mind).  Salty,  my guess is you may have comment.

I'm sure you'll get tons of suggestions for specific favorite hardware, but frankly I'd suggest you just call Hutchins. Halyards led aft was an optional factory installed feature at least as far back as 1988; maybe even earlier. They will sell you all the parts and send a photo of what the finished product should look like. An easy solution if you don't want to spend weeks of your life doing research.

My vote for sealant is 3M 4200. I also like butyl tape, but it is more challenging to install. I think for your application 4200 will be the quickest, easiest solution.

Mike - I would strongly consider using a plate mounted between the mast tabernacle and the deck as opposed to mounting blocks in the deck itself.  This plate would transfer all the loads directly into the mast where deck mounted blocks put the deck surface in tension (trying to pull the block out of the deck).  It is just more mechanically sound to use the plate.  Here is an example link of the type plate I am talking about.

I agree with Bruce.  Our boat came with aft led lines, but if I needed to add them, the deck plate would be the way to go.
