We have a 1983 Com-Pac Yacht 19 in Mayo, Maryland that we'd like to sell. Can someone give us advice on how to go about it? We don't know how this is normally done. (How to post it, how to price it, how to show it.) The boat is in very good condition and is currently in a slip, but we also have a 1982 Magic Tilt Trailer at the marina. The outboard is a new 6hp Yamaha.
Thanks.

Billy

I sold mine (1983) on Craigslist in about a week. You can also post here in the classifieds. Salty did a write up on what to do.
I would be descriptive as possible and include lots pictures.

I bought mine via Craigslist.  The prior owner stated there was a lot of interest.

Suggest listing on this site ,CPYOA, plus sailingtexas.com and craigslist(local) and onecraigs.com. I think all are priced nicely at $0.

For pricing, you could start at NADA blue book. You can find it on line then locate ComPac and the CP19, year etc.
Sailing Texas is helpful because they have a photo gallery which shows the listing price and sale price of all CP 19s sold through them.
Pictures are important along with info on sail inventory /maker/condition plus equipment included and trailer condition. Titles for boat and trailer if Maryland is a title state.

There are not many 19s for sale, only 624 made, and it is a very well thought of boat, so you don't need to give it away.

Good luck with your sale.

But, if you do WANT to give it away, I could provide a nice home for it just across the water.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. We love her, but now we BOTH have back problems and it's just not feasible for us to keep her. If we need advice as we go through selling, I'll be back. :)

I'm in the market for a Compac 19 - I'm up in Ottawa, Canada (about 6 hours drive from NYC).

How easily can these boats be trailer launched?  I drive a 6 cyl 4X4 F150 - I assume this is an adequate tow vehicle for a Compac 19?

kickingbug1

you will have no trouble launching and retrieving with a f 150 4x4.

So how did the sale go on your com-pac, I 've been tring to sell mine with no luck. I was just wondering how you came about your price and how long did it take.

Trijntje - just curious, are you in Holiday Hill Marina? I kept my 16 there loooooooong time ago. Fantastic marina and lots of great memories.
