here is the shedule of events at the CLR. monday the 25th-----"Meet and Greet" at Bretz Winery (illinois 127 just north of Carlyle) 7pm until ? followed by a dock party at west access (possibly a night sail). Tuesday----the "Pursuit" race (basically a warm up for the CLR Cup) after which we can either have pizza night at the marina or go to Popeyes chop house in St Rose for dinner (veteran CLR sailors know it for the best food in the whole area). Wednesday -----"Chase the Jugs" or better yet "touch the Jugs" regatta. followed by dinner at whatever resteraunt we choose then dock party or night sail. Thursday-----"CLR Cup" race, followed by a raft up and the awards dinner at the marina. we will try to work in a "cornhole" tourney after dinner one night as well. note: nothing is mandatory, no one has to "race" and no one has to sail at night. trophies will be awarded for the following: 1st place in the "pursuit" race,  2nd place in the CLR cup,  "Well Grounded Anchor" (last place in the clr cup race), Axle Grease award (for sailor towing his boat the longest distance) and last but not least the "prettiest boat" award (chosen by secret ballot). prizes will be given for the best "gilligan's Island" costume and the winner of the cornhole tourney and the "touching the jugs" competition.  in the interm practice a "Fair Weather" dance.

Really looking forward to it.  Does my driving to Houston and back count for distance traveled.  LOL  Talked to Shannon today and I am all set to drop off Off The Wind next Wed.
See you and everyone soon.

It looks like a great time will be had again.  Lots of sailing, fun and laughter with good people.  We are especially happy to see you didn't hire that nine fingered, schmaltzy, over-priced hack comedian this year.  Not sure we could sit through another one of his stand-up routines.. I can never remember his name...... Cletus, Crusty, Campy, Calvin, Carol or something like that.

Hehehehehe!

i have decided that "cletus" wont be entertaining us this year, i did, however, hire his twin brother known far and wide as "Texas Doug". he will be there, dressed as always in bluejeans, long sleeve button down shirt, awful hat and discusting gloves. he will be holding court, in his grizzled way, regaling us with sailing adventures, some real some imagined. i cant wait to hear what hijincks he has been up to. one thing is sure he will have a great costume for the "gilligan's Island competition. probably bluejeans, long sleeve button down shirt.awful hat and disgusting gloves. dont forget the box of wine buddy

In blue jeans and button down shirt he blew into our land.
Dusty and dirty from days spent on truck repair.
He regaled us with stories and adventures too grand.

Storms and sea serpents were met with true bravado.
Crossing seas and oceans he would never despair.
He came from a town somewhere close to Eldorado.

With water jug ballast he would sail his fine ship.
Wet cheese and a box-o-wine he consumed with care.
His brother Carl marveling at true seamanship.

Free food became scarce on Carlyle Lake.
The good ship Mystic Wind vanished in air.
His twin brother Carl left sadly in his wake.

has another brain fart this morning, instead of jugs we could use boat fenders. everyone has a few so all you need is about 25 feet of line. im thinking it would be just one big game of "tag". all you would have to do is touch the other boats fender and they would be out (a little honesty comes into play here).  when you are "tagged" you are out and all you have to do is pull in your fender and continue sailing , watching the rest of the fleet and taking pics. i know that the faster boats have an advantage but thats where seamanship comes into play. I'll bring it up monday night and see what everyone thinks. hey everyone be safe on the roads and call if you have questions or have a problem  317) 292-0258

What!  No jugs?  Being a perfectly normal adolescent I find a good game of jug touching much more appealing than fender touching. Carl buddy, where are you when I need a little middle school support here?
