Going over to the Dark Side, occasionally

Hi all,

Well I did it. I've gone over to the dark side.  I bought a powerboat to add to my fleet.  I need something to do on days with no wind.  Nothing huge, a 2004 World Cat 250 DC,  a 25 ft. power cat with twin 140hp Suzuki 4 stroke outboards, set up as a bowrider with enclosed electric head for the ladies. They seldom come up for sale and I'd been looking for one for a year.    Previous owner was Vice Commodore of the Ft. Myers Coast Guard Auxiliary.  He's getting a bigger one.  Amazing condition for it's age with under 400 engine hours, just serviced.  Loaded with electronics and safety gear and obviously maintained well.  The surveyor said it was set up as a race committee boat.  I'm having the dealer address the few punch list items the surveyor found(nothing major), having the bottom painted and hopefully picking her up tomorrow or early next week.  Hope they got the bottom done before all this rain.

Can't wait.  She looks to be the perfect boat for me. Incredible ride, fuel economy and versatility.  I'll have pictures after I pick her up.  Haven't sailed in over a week and getting "land fever" not being out on the water for this long.  All the locals I talk to say this weather is crazy.  It apparently never rains in January, so they say.

Anyone who wants to go for a ride, let me know.

edit as they took the pics down

You got it Al.  You in town?  Rain delayed the bottom paint, hoping to pick her up Monday or Tuesday.

Don't worry guys, there won't be any ethanol going in these motors.  Plenty of Rec 90 available in SW Florida, as long as you are willing to pay for it.  At least they claim it is ethanol free, don't know if anyone actually tests it.

Hi Brad,

Enjoy your time here in paradise.  If you haven't had a chance to get on the water, you really should.  The sailing is great and I would welcome you to join me on my Eclipse whenever is convenient .  It is wonderful if the weather is cooperative, my boat likes 8-10kts of wind.   I'm in Punta Gorda Isles, about 20 miles north of the Cape at the north end of Charlotte Harbor (the body of water, not the city).  I usually head out around noon and day sail for 2-3 hours.  PM me for my contact info.

I'll let everyone know when I get the boat and have enough experience in it to not scare anyone!  I'll of course have the debate over which boat to take out each day.  After all the rain in January, I can't wait for the "regular" weather to return here.  I sailed 4 to 5 days a week last winter.  Got out the last two days, perfect sailing.  Hoping to pick up the cat this week.
