Due to repowering the intrepid yacht Koinonia with a Tohatsu Sailpro, I am selling my 1999 Nissan 2 stroke 2 cylinder 8 hp motor. The entire time I owned it, it never let me down and always starts on the first or at the very worst, the second pull. I have winterized the motor myself every fall, fogging the engine and changing the lower unit gear oil.
In the interest of full disclosure, I overheated the motor this fall while motorsailing to the mainland. I noticed the water had stopped peeing so I shut it down. It never seized- it turned over immediately after I shut it down and started. When I started it to enter the marina, it was once again pumping water. It was right after that that I bought my Sailpro. I brought the Nissan to the dealer where they determined the thermostat was bad, replace it and installed a new impeller, even though the other impeller was less than 2 years old. While at the dealer, I told them I was intending to sell and I wanted everything fixed that was wrong. The bill: Almost 300 clams. I also put a new prop on about 2 or 3 years ago. This motor has been super dependable and the dealer could find nothing wrong with it.
In a nutshell, that's it. Asking $600.00. Located in Southern NJ and I can run the motor in a barrel at my house. You can reply here, PM me, or email at rerrico@comcast.net. includes tank and line. I have the original owners booklet as well as a Clymers Nissan outboard shop manual.
Thanks mates!
