Had a little incident involving my bobstay. It seems I hit it with my anchor when I was pulling it up. Didn't know it until my brother pointed it out to me from his boat. Tied up to his stern as we tried to figure out how to make repairs. We had a long sail ahead of us to get home and I didn't want to have to motor home, plus it was very windy.

Well my brother had some wire so I crawled under the bow pulpit and hanging over began to remove the bottom pin. Of course the boats are bouncing up and down. I guess we spent about 45 mins to get the whole repair done. We ran a wire through several times and then tightened the turnbuckle which twisted the wire into a nice solid strand.

Looking at the broken piece it seems it has been cracked for some time. So I guess better to break now then when under heavy stress. Good thing my brother carried a supply of parts!

So this boat is retro fitted with a bow sprit, hence the turnbuckle.
Factory fits are one piece stays. No big deal. I put a retro on Wind Rover's bow a few seasons back. Works fine. Yes good to be able to fix it on the water...
