Breakin wind

Howdy folks my name is Joe and my wife and I just recently became owners of a cp 19. This is my first post on this site but I have been coming here for a while now as I have listed over all the boats you folks own. I've learned a lot about compacs too from you guys. Just signed up yesterday and was very happy this morning to receive the email saying I was approved. I waited till we had the boat before joining because after all it is called the "owners" association.   Really just want to introduce myself and let you know I am looking forwards to getting to know you folks and make some friends along the way. I hope everyone has a great day.

Welcome Joe!

I am new myself.  There is lots to learn here.  A bunch of very knowledgeable people hang out here.  Enjoy your new boat!

Thanks Neil. Glad to meet you!

Welcome to the board.  It is a good place and a wealth of information.  There is a lot of different experience on this board and if you search things you can see a lot of cool upgrades and projects on  here.

Hey Joe,

If you've been hanging out you already know this is a great source of information. I hope you enjoy your stay.

I envy you, I've often wished I could sail your home waters.

Welcome Joe:

We own a 19/2, sail # 351.  I am sure you will enjoy sailing yours.  We just spent a week up in Wellfleet, MA, on Cape Cod and had a great time; a good reefing breeze a couple of times.  We expect to be down in Cape Coral in Feb with our boat, so may see you or some others at that time.  As already mentioned, there is a wealth of information (and chicanery) to be found on this site.

Thanks guys and nice meeting y'all.
Heave too, your sure right about the knowledge on here. The previous owner of our boat went down while racing in the Dauphin Island race earlier this year. He had apparently started dismantling our boat to start restoration on her and some things aren't with the boat. Thanks to this site I've already been able to find most if not all the answers to the questions I've been scratching my head over.

Kahp ho, maybe one day you will make it down here and sail some good spots but I tell you what if I had a Eclipse I would be ecstatic sailing in a mud puddle. I just love your boat.  Hoping to get a suncat one day it's a little easier on my budget.

Elk River, maybe one day we will share the same wind. I'm gonna get our boat in the water as soon as I can get the few things it needs and this winter I plan to restore her to what she was when they first built her. Probably won't be back in the water in time to go sailing with you this time.

Hi Joe and congrats on your new boat. Where are you sailing out of in Florida?

We live in The Villages and trailer sail all over central Florida. The Chain of lakes are in our back yard. We sail with The West Coast Trailer sailing Squadron (WCTSS) often. Usually getting together about once a month. Mid Oct. is a really cool cruise planed on Cay Costa. Google the web site and see where we will be. Your very welcome to sail with the group. It's a very friendly group with many home builts and some compacs. We sail a Sun Cat which as you know is ultra easy to trail and launch. The founder of WCTSS now sails a Sun Cat too.

If you have other boat issues contact Compac.  The customer service is excellent.  The huge advantage of a boat like Compac is that parts are easy to obtain since the manufacturer is still building them!

Welcome Joe and congrats on the Compac 19.  I am also new to the group.  Purchased an '84 Compac 19 about 6 weeks ago and have been getting her all rigged to sail.  She will be in the water this week.  I have read lots of tips on this site and also just Googling Compac 19s.  Great boats.  Good luck and keep us posted.

Hey, Joe. Welcome to the CPYOA. Watch out for Bob23, he's sure to have his hand out before "finalizing" your membership. But, that's okay. He can be soothed with a 6 pack of PBR. Or, even better, a draught of Guinness Stout.

I think you'll love your CP19. Just enough room to be comfortable. I love my CP16 "Pegasus", but I have to admit, she's a bit cramped, but is nice to get into the water with minimum fuss.

Welcome Joe!

As founder of the WCTSS I'd like to echo what Tom L says.  Come on down to Cayo Costa in October and sail with us!
