Looking for a stern rail and step ladder for a 1981 Com-Pac 16.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

arw-16

There are stern ladders at West Marine.  I have not be sure enough about them so I have not purchased anything but a folding removable ladder.  Com-pac uses the same ladder on all their small sailboats and they sell them for around $268.  I do not know who their supplier is.  Perhaps someone else does.

Does Com Pac have any kind of on-line catalog for parts/pieces available for my 16?

I bought a nice little stainless steel folding ladder at Boater's World for about $80.  My wife and I have used it for two seasons and it works great.  You should be able to order it online if you don't have a Boater's World near you.
Make sure to back your bolts with some 1" stainless fender washers to lessen any chances of cracking the transom.

Com-Pac will mail you a current parts list with (generally) up to date prices if you just call them and request it.  I haven't found it available on line but it would be a good suggestion to make when you call and request the paper list.  The Hutchins (Com-Pac) phone number is 727-443-4408; fax is 727-443-1088.

Hey Jkat,
What is the width of your ladder?  # of rungs?  Style?

Thanks,

Ed

Ed,

I'm looking at it in a Boater's World catalog.  The brand name is Garelick.  It's 12" wide and has two rungs.  It is screwed to the transom and folds up when not in use.  The catalog lists it at $92.  I guess that's what I paid.
It works well for my wife and I.   I can't see going any bigger on the C16 than this one.   Hope this helps.
