Re: Christmas presents. I really thought somebody would beat me to this by now, but I got tired of waiting -

Hmm, let's see:

A new Ritchie bulkhead mount compass for Pegasus.
A cool book: 50 Places to Sail before you Die!
A Katy Perry calendar... nice...! The Admiral said it would great hanging from Pegasus' bulkhead.
A R/C helicopter from my 30 something son (I wonder who he really got it for).
And more nice stuff.

But, my favorite was getting to see all my kids (4) and grandkids (9) in under 24 hours. Also, most of them, again, at Christmas Day breakfast by my wife Barbara. And more family at dinner at my favorite SIL's.

It's nice to receive and give gifts at Christmas, as long as we don't forget the true meaning of the holiday. And, Bob23, it was very nice to give and receive Christmas cards from the BBB bunch! Thanks!

I got a small in size jumpstarter, battery charger to take along when I take the boat out. Also a GPS that will connect to my notebook sized computer in case I want to bring it along to track my routes sometimes. A few books, some decent beer, a couple of gift cards for WM and one for the Neuse Sports shop, a place I stop on the way from Raleigh to New Bern when I go to the boat.

Maybe a couple of warm days will happen soon.

i also received "50 places to sail before you die".

after thumbing through it, i found i've already sailed 4 of them and will sail a 5th one this summer!

i received an r/c helicopter last christmas and have become quite good with it.

i'm thinking of upgrading to a larger helicopter that can handle a payload of say...oh i don't know... something like a water balloon?

bob 23's water cannon has a far reach, but if i could drop water balloons from above, he would have to cry uncle!

Re: 50 places - I haven't "sailed" Nha Trang Bay, but I did learn to waterski there! Really.

In May, I'll be in Newport to see (hopefully) the Volvo 65's. I've watched sailboats in Bermuda, took a ferry in Hong Kong, crossed the Long Island Sound in thick fog to Mystic in a 30' Chris Craft, drove past Lake Michigan, rode a party boat in Annapolis, crossed New York Harbor in a gale. Do any of these count?

Marty:
You'll be hearing from my lawyers: Guido, Guido and Guido! I was going to restart this thread so I'm glad you stole it.
Red wine and dark chocolate: These are essential and at the top of the Bob23 food pyramid. I'm happy to have received as gifts ample supplies of both.
Obenaufs leather preservative for my Bean Boots, which have had a lot of use this fall and winter.
A very bright orange Hawaiian shirt which will appear at the CLR 2015.
A really great CD: Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga duet! I'm a big TB fan and the Lady has amazed me with her quirky personality and great voice.
One of the coolest gifts I got, also the smallest was a personal Flux Capacitor car charger. Being a semi obsessed "Back to the Future" fan, this really comes in hand not only for charging my phone but for travelling through time. Considering that I'm sometimes late, this great tool has eliminated that problem. I'm also able to move forward through time so I know who wins the race at the 2015 CLR!
And, last but not least- this:

A Cahon. I love acoustic drums and have bongos, congas and a small djembe. This really adds to my collection and I've been having fun exploring the different sounds available in what appears just a wooden box. Hoping to incorporate this into my playing in the worship band at my church...hope they're all ready.
But, of course, the greatest gifts are those not purchasable with money- our relationships with friends and family. Hope everyones Christmas was wonderful. Being die hards, our real tree is still up and I still have one gift yet to buy for my adapted grandchildren. Nothing like a surprise!
And I'll expand on Marty's last line: Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Whoever you believe him to be, by all accounts he is a pretty nice guy, respectful to women, honest, loved to have fun at weddings, not afraid to be a non conformist and spent a decent amount of time on the water. A man we'd all like to have as a friend, I'd bet.

I got a bunch of tech running stuff, a pair of calf compression sleeves, a Headsweat cap, some UA socks, Vibram five fingers with toe socks so I can run barefoot in the winter.  All stuff I need and will wear out using.  I also got a Streamlight Waypoint LED spot light for the boat.

My best gift was all three sons, their wives and the grand kids at my house for six days.  Included in that group is my new Granddaughter Elsa who is eight months old and an absolute delight.  Getting them all here was a chore given they live in Seattle, Philadelphia and Nashville respectively, but they all made it safely and we had a great time.

And Bob, we just took our tree down.  A real cut tree for the evergreen aroma, a purist for the meaning, we never take it down before the feast of the Epiphany.

Bob23

We get our tree from a local tree farm...family owned for 3 generations. Some years it's been up through Valentines Day...that's how fresh. I have most of the cut-offs from 35 years of Christmas's.
Oh, I also got an authentic Grundens So'wester hat. I live in a commercial fishing area so real deal rain gear is available.

I got more tools that boat stuff.  That is okay, I have almost finished my electrical tool kit.  I did get a few West Marine Gift Cards.  Ugh....the exciting thing that I will purchase with that is bottom paint.  Joy oh Joy!

I bought a Balsam Hill artificial tree.  It is nice and pre-lit.  Makes life much easier!

Last year, the Admiral and I bought a giant pre-lit artificial tree (and a balsam candle to go with it!). We do prefer the real deal, but, we figured the artificial tree would be more practical and lend itself to better decorations. The downside: OMG this this HEAVY! It does break down into 3 sections which helps. I'm looking at it now... looks great! Plus, we don't have to take it down until BBB-2015! Ha, ha.
