For those of you needing an adrenaline rush during this time of the year, here are some videos of ice-boating in Wisconsin.  All of these are YouTube videos.  You may have to cut and paste them into your browser to get them to play.

TURN YOUR SOUND UP!

Joe Terry:

The first two are on Lake Petenwell, central Wisconsin.  Joe has an interesting camera that gives him a dashboard on his recording--video number two.  The third video is from a race last Sunday during the Wisconsin Stern Steerer Assoc. regattta on Lake Mendota, Madison, Wisconsin.

The Deuce:

The "Deuce" is the largest ice boat in the U.S. and maybe the world currently sailing.  This video was made last Saturday, again at the Stern Steerers regatta on Lake Mendota.  It was produced by Dave Elsmo, Head of Instruction, Hoofer Sailing Club, UW Madison.  He has additional
videos if you look for him on YouTube.

Very cool!  In case anyone is interested there is a big sailing competition coming up in Fond du Lac, WI:
"Elite Winter Sailing athletes will gather on the shores of Lake Winnebago, February 9-14 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin USA to compete in the World Ice and Snow Sailing Championship (WISSA). These ice and snow enthusiasts will compete in three classes - Sled, Kite and Wings. Thus far registrants from 12 countries are represented: Canada, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and the USA."
Check out the WISSA web site.  A good friend of mine is very involved in this. He's in his 60's and does the kite skiing.  I've never sailed on snow or ice, but love wind surfing.
