It appears that my Standard Communications DS10 Depth Sounder has died since it's giving me some strange readings.  Standard no longer makes the DS10, so it looks like I'll have to replace it with another sounder.  I'm a sailor, so I'm looking for the most inexpensive way to go (wind is free...so we think everything should also be free).  I've been looking on line at a Hummingbird HDR 650 sounder for around $100.  Does anyone have an opinion?  Also, has anyone replaced their depth sounder with a better alternative brand?

Thanks,
Joe Burns

I haven't installed it yet, but I recently bought this from Amazon, $82.  The reviews are good.

When I want to see more detail for fishing, I have an Eagle fishfinder with a portable case and suction cup transducer.
I can move it from boat to boat.

i believe mine is a uniden.  looks a lot like the hawkeye.

mine came with a shoot thru hull transducer.  no holes to drill.

i've had it for 4 years now with no problems.  bought it off ebay.

Thanks so much for the input.  I ordered one at Amazon today.  Glad that I could depend on you guys.  I owe you...
