Strange Brackets On Bow Rail

I've been looking at these huge stainless brackets on the bow rail of Udara Tanda and I have no idea what they are for (and neither did the previous owner). The clamping area of these is a bit oversized for the rail diameter they are hanging on and have pretty much scored the aluminum tubing quite a bit from rattling around while hanging from the rail.

Hopefully, the picture link will work. If not, the image is in the user pictures area under P120019a.JPG.

Does anybody have any idea what these things might have been used for?

Thanks for taking the time to view this post,

Johann.

Johann,
I don't know if anyone got back with you on the picture you posted of the "Unknown Brackets", but I can tell you that they are anchor brackets (Danforth anchor).  The brackets would hang down on the bow rail, the anchor would hang upside down, then one side is placed in the round hole (right hole/right bracket) in your picture, then the other side is placed in the hook of the left bracket.  The bracket is a great way to keep the anchor out of the way and ready for use.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the speedy reply. That would make sense, both anchors that came with the purchase are Danforth clones, so that would be quite likely. I was confused because when we took possession of Udara Tanda, the bow anchor was placed on the coiled up rode on the foredeck, so I was thinking about getting something to mount the anchor on, and here she was already equipped for something like what I had in mind.

Thanks again,

Johann.

She's about a month away (hurricanes permitting) from getting 'a taste of salt'...
