Badly damaged by tropical storm Arthur

Well, we were about 2 weeks from launching our '78 Com-pac 16, "Twist of Fate" when TS Arthur changed our plans.  She was minding her own business on the trailer when 3 large trees were uprooted and landed on her, crushing the topsides/deck, bending the mast and destroying the motor bracket.  I emailed Hutchins and Gerry responded very quickly saying they've destroyed the deck mould and any extensive repair to the deck might cost more than what a 16' of that age would cost down there ($2000-$2500).  We are in Downeast Maine.  Anyway, it sounds like our insurance company might consider it totaled (homeowners policy), but I'm wondering if any other ComPac 16 owners have any ideas on what to do with the hull (it's a bit mashed where the deck joins it) rigging, sails etc.  We've sailed her for 20 years and are quite heartsick about this.

I do fiberglass work for a living and without pictures I couldn't say if it would be worth fixing or not.

Poor 16    Sorry it happened to you, 20 years, it was a part of the family I bet.

Is there enough left to make a mini cruiser?  The NC dealer has made a few conversions from sail to power from broken boats, and for older sailors needing less things to do on their trips.

We're in Washington county...as east as you can get in the US.  Still waiting to hear from insurance adjuster.  Converting her to a power craft is intriguing...less to manage as we "age"!
