Hello,
So glad I found this website.

I'm a longtime sailor returning to the sport after a long hiatus.

I'm in the process of purchasing a C23.   Any suggestions about purchasing one of these boats would be welcome.  Looking forward to being part of this community.

Happy Sailing.

Hi Archi! Don't mind if I call  you Arch, do you? Welcome to what is most arguably the finest sailing website in all the universe! I also have a 23 (1985 23/2) What year are you looking at? Regardless, they are great boats. Once you own one, or she owns you- you'll know what I mean.
Suggestions? Well, from 1985 on up they have a small bowsprit which lessens the dreaded weather helm that the 23's are famous for. Look at sail condition, and keel condition especially if purchased in a northern clime. Check the standing rigging...is it original? Are there little barbs sticking out from the wire? If so, time to replace. What year are you looking at?
Again, welcome! Looking forward to your participation.

Sure,  just don't call me late for dinner.  :)

Thanks for the welcomes!

I'm currently looking at a '94.  Were pretty close to an agreed upon price.  But who knows?

I'm currently living in FL where she will be sailed mostly.  But I will hopefully be taking her up north for the summers.  I've never actually trailered a boat before (always kept them in the water at one location) ,  so this will be a first.
I am no longer working,  so I have lots of time on my hands.

I've been renting a C23' on a regular basis and am happy with the way she sails.  My sailing has been on lakes and very protected waterways,  so I'm not really sure what it will be like in more open waters - but hope to find out soon.  From the reading I've done here it seems like people have taken there 23's quite far afield.

Is Long Island Sound  or Block Island Sound too ambitious for one of these boats?  That's the general area I will be going to when I head up north.

Thanks again for the kind responses.

Fernandina Beach FL to be exact.
