Yesterday a nice couple that had expressed an interest in Wrinkles came by to look her over.  Unfortunately they liked her and put down a deposit to adopt her.  As some of you know we are waiting for our house to sell so we can take a couple of years off to sail.  There has been some strong interest in the house recently and we need to be prepared to move at the end of this school year if we close.  So Wrinkles needs a new home and it looks like she found one.  It will be tough to see her going out our driveway without us, but we will keep many fond memories of her with us.

Now that we are not Com-pac'ers we won't be on this site very often, but we will stop by occasionally to say hi and see what you characters are up to.  We have made some wonderful friends through CPYOA and hope to continue to meet up in person. To Kickingbug, Salty, Toolman, Mac, Sailen69, Cal, John J, Crazy, Bruce, and all their lovely ladies we say thank you for all the great memories at CLR and Strictly Sail.  Bob23 - you are a good friend that I've never even met.   I'll miss our nonsense and good natured ribbing more than you know.  Brenda and I will figure out a way to tip a few with you someday.

So unless we end up with a Com-Pac 27 we say goodbye and thank you all for the laughs, ideas, support and friendship.

Fair winds,
Mike and Brenda

Mike,

First off, thanks for all your contributions here on this forum.  It was greatly appreciated by us newbies as well as all the veterans.

Second, your boat was beautiful and I hope the new owners take as good of care as you did.  It was an inspiration to the care you showed and the fun you had with her.  I hope to get as many memories and use out of my C16 as you and Brenda got out of yours.

Finally, good luck to you both and don't be 'strangers'.

Saluki.

Hopefully you both can continue to attend CLR, as I am sure there will always be a few seats aboard someones boat with your names on them.
We will miss you greatly, and look forward to reading about future endeavors you both have as you progress in your sailing lives. To be honest, the ComPacs arent just the glue that ties us together, it is the experiences and friendship that does, the boats are just the beginning of that relationship. No matter what boat you own, we hope to see you both again, for a few drinks, dinner and friendship. Sailing is just a benefit to that aspect.

We both wish you the best of luck finding a new boat, and luck in the market of selling your home so you can upgrade your retirement.

God Bless, and Fair Winds!

even though this is called the com-pac yacht owners association, i think i speak for everyone here when i say that we dont want to miss you and brenda so stay on the site if you wish and continue to share your ideas both about sailing and life. my next boat may not be a com-pac but you know what the clr stands for the carlyle lake rendezvous so i ask you please, if you can, come for this years event. if you fly in ill pick you up at the airport and you can stay with us. like jason says there is always room for the two of you on one of the boats. john j thought that we should open the event up for other boats and that might be a thought. anyway you know sarah and i wish you the best of luck and consider you good friends (you know i dont have many of those). im gonna figure on seeing you in july or know the reason why.

Oh no you don't! You can't just get out of a dingy rematch by making up a cockamaimee story about someone buying your 23. What some people will do to get of a boat race! I'm not gonna stand for this!
And another thing: Looking through my membership payment records, I find that your check bounced and the Compac police are turning down your street at this very moment to have you arrested and tried for something...I'll trump up some kind of charge. But you can avert this embarassing situation if you promise to stop by here from time to time and check up on us! If you refuse, I can't predict what will happen. Your name may be put into the national database of non worthy previous Compac owners and you may be prevented from owning ANY sailboat ever. This is very serious so think about it before you sign Wrinkles over.
Now that it's out of my system, let me congratulate you on entering the next chapter of your life on the water. It'll not be the same around here- who am I gonna harrass? Even though we've never met, I feel that I've known you for a long time. I do look forward to sharing a Dram or two or  three with you sometime. I echo the remarks and sentiments written below by others so I won't bore everyone by repeating them except to say that I view some members here as pillars of the site and you and Brenda are two of them. I will miss your contributions and I've learned much from you. Your plans for cruising are an inspiration to all of us.
BUT- I still demand a rematch dingy race and I'll not rest until I recieve satisfaction! Take that!
Most sincerely,
Bob23
(ps: I want you to know there's a bottle of Drambuie here with your name on it if you ever make it to NJ. Better make it soon- mine's almost empty!)

mike and brenda,

although you'll both be missed, we congratulate you on the possible sale of your home and wrinkles.  you've worked hard, and now after chasing your dream, it's within reach.  grab it and hold on!

we hope to see you on the water, whether it's carlyle lake, or the big blue ocean.

good luck and god speed,

Mike and Brenda,

While you may soon not be Com-pac owners, you are welcome to stop by here anytime.  Because if you don't, Bob's calling his dogs on you for real this time.

In all seriousness, Becky and I consider you both friends and have treasured getting to know you both.  We WILL bump into each other again.  If not at CLR, Orange Beach.  If not there, somewhere along the gulf coast.  Might just "cruise bomb" you guys someday. Meaning show up along an anchoring of your cruise and mooch off you for a few days between ports.  :)  Keep a bottle of Limebite onboard at all times for just such an occasion. I could see us buzzing down to the Keys for a little rendezvous of our own when you are in the area. And I could see heading to Orange Beach again for vacation.

Island Time would welcome you guys aboard for CLR. I know you may not be able to commit to this yet, but that's OK...show up if you are able and we'll take it from there.  Thankfully Facebook is there to keep us in contact.

Wish you guys the best of luck with everything!  If I or Becky can be of ANY help, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Say What!!, I go off the board for a week to go skiing and Greene bails out.:)

Hey, best of luck, drop in every now and again, so we know what is happening with you and Brenda.  If you become permanent in Orange Beach get me some contact information and I'll stop by and buy you a beer.
