Why no NEW Sun Cat Topics?

Since there are quite a few Sun Cat Owners who are members of the CPYOA, I can't understand why there aren't more posts on the Sun Cat Forum. Lately, it seems like there have been long dry spells between NEW Topics or Questions.

WHY?

Anyone care to offer an opinion?

Same with Horizon Cats. May be that a lot of folks post in the Lounge or other "generic" forums and it is true that us catboaters are in the minority compared to the other Compac offerings. :(

Well since maybe all but 7% of the Sun Cats [those down South] are under wraps for the winter and gaff rigged boats are a mystery to many but the hard core sailors, and what's to talk about? Hummm...

The boats are new [kind of] and not a lot goes wrong?
Are the rudders all foiled from the factory? I don't know.
One single large [sort of] sail. Any loose footers?
By pulling the gaff almost vertical the sail shape looks like a sloop.
Colored hulls need a lot of rubbing to fight oxidation.
The shape of the boat hulls share a typical Com-Pac shape influenced by those lovely cat boats.
The small boats don't allow for interior changes with the exception of clever little storage niches.
There are many modifications to the folding mast for those who want to try it.
Some sailors like to route all lines back to the cockpit.
Some concern about the centerboard trunk leaks and board rattle.
Ease of launching and retrieving.
How well does the trailer fit the boat?
The never ending discussion about the outboard motors. Fuel, and water. [Water doesn't burn nor mix with oil.]

But I can't think of anything about these boats to talk about.

I did share a few beers and help wash a beautiful blue Sun Cat with an owner in Sister Bay, Wisconsin who was waiting for his wife to arrive with the car. He sailed across Lake Michigan [70 miles?] and she drove from their home in Charlevoix, Michigan.

So, all we hear are crickets? skip.

Not much to say...we are all "basking in a catboat glow" after another satisfying season    :o ;D :D ;) :)

LOL. ;D

I have a theory Don.   Every time you post pics of one of your very innovative interior modules or your class rule busting sail configurations, all the suncat owners head for the shop or the loft to make same, and they don't have any time to hang out on the forum. ;)

brackish,

Notice I've been conspicuously absent of late, providing ample time for other Sun Cat Owners, dedicated to the craft, to contribute their mods, questions, or comments.

Since it hasn't worked, I'll continue working on my latest mod to finish it up, post it here in living color, and move on to the next mod I have in mind that is waiting in the queue.

I just love my "Project" boat!

Don,

What's next?

I continue to think your step modification should be an exception to your "no screws" rule. It's a generally sound rule. Most owner modifications are of poor cosmetic quality and/or are not something everyone would want. Making them removable is smart.

But that step is an exception. No one will ever want to remove it.

Tom,

Currently working on saloon doors for companionway with changeable inserts.

Again, NO new holes or permanent structural mods.
