Well Com-pac sailors, it's time to put your vote in CLR2014.

CLR is the "Carlyle Lake Rendezvous", a Com-pac gathering in South Central IL about 50 miles east of St. Louis.
Plenty of fun to be had between making friends, sailing a great lake, the annual race, great food and wine at local establishments and dockside story telling.  Not to mention the raft-up, marina dinner and award ceremony and a cast of colorful captains and crew. And rum.  Can't forget the rum.   This is NOT one of those huge sailing events like Lake Havasu with sponsors and such.  Just Com-pac friends getting together and having a good time.

For anyone who has considered coming in the past, or is within a days drive of the event, you will not be disappointed in the lake or the company.

You can vote three times and change your vote. Poll expires in 20 days.

If you see others have voted for dates, and they work for you too, vote for them to help build consensus more quickly.

this is bad, but unless i change brands of boats, its a com-pac only affair .  as to the date-----as far as i know late july early august suits us.

by the way. i dont think a 19 will be in our garage-----the owner must have gold bars stashed in there somewhere cause the price is too steep for this fella.

Anytime is great with me, my night schedule changes by the moment but my weekend days are pretty open usually. The nights, not so much. Matt.

We'd love to vote, but not sure we'll still have a Com-Pac this summer.  If we are still trailer sailing we will be sure to attend once again.

mike and brenda, we should have enough bigger boats that you can put in for crew jobs.  you know like swabbing the poop deck etc.

So the poll looks like a split decision.  What breaks the tie?

Looks like July 30-Aug 3 timeframe is a winner.

MacGyver and Kicknbug..any objections before we put this in stone? Racing going on that weekend?   Other events on the lake?

I have a bunch on my plate today, but tomorrow I go back to work, and I will check the schedules to see what is up that week. Even if there was a race sometime in there, it might be nice to sail around as a fleet while the race is on.

The big issues that would cause is using the building for get togethers and such....... hmmmmmmm.....

I will post after work with what I find out.

I say lock it down, because when I went by the marina, the schedule wasnt up for CYC and who knows when they will finalize that, and frankly, this far ahead of time is good for folks in this fine group to put in to have it off, and the chances for them to get that time off is very good this far ahead.

My wife will put in for it off tomorrow. Ginger said that her birthday is August 1st, so anyone wanting to bake a cake is more than welcome to do so. LOL

So the dates will be JULY 31st (Thursday) through August 4th (Monday).
Salty, if you can, in a new post have all the details like last year in it. I do HIGHLY suggest that people wanting to stay in a hotel use the one by the marina, and not the old Super 8, as we had family stay at the old Super 8 and they had a very bad experience.......... The hotel by the marina is called Mariner's Village.

Thanks everyone, and looking forward to 2014 CLR!

I did ask today, and the schedule for the CYC is not out, and with this new commodore, no clue when it will show up.

I set into stone, the dates for CLR, and told the office manager it was serious business as usual for us. ;)

Tell that yacht club that the real yachts are coming to town and they better not plan anything that weekend. I also said if they wanted to participate in the big COMPAC race they could for the nominal fee of $300 a entry. CASH..

At that price the race would include a dinner of a gourmet burger and fries from Wally's in Breese. Drink not included. And they have to setup their own bouys and such.

If this happens, then depending on the entries, dinner for us at Bretz would be free, including wine. But dont hold your breath........... I am doing my best everyone!
