The subject line is the subtitle of a very nice book called "A Unit of Water, A Unit of Time"; by Douglas Whynott.  A lovely study of fathers and sons, and how the designer's mind and the builders' hands combine to create a boat the sailor will love.  It's getting chilly, find this one for a good winter read
