Sometimes my wife has really great ideas.  She called me shortly after noon yesterday and said that the weather was so pretty we should go sailing.  She didn't have to say it twice.  She took off work early and I shut down my shop at 4pm.  With winds at 10-15 mph we were leaving a wake on the lake about an hour later under the main and standard jib.  Being a weekday the other boat traffic on the lake was minimal, something we enjoyed since our usual boating days are weekends when we have to keep a sharp eye out for idiots with more horsepower than good sense.  We had a brief fantasy about how it would be if there were no powerboats permitted on the lake.

We sailed back toward the marina while watching the moon rise over the hills to the east.  Ducks were skimming over the water enroute to their night resting places.  In a little while the sail was over, "Straight Arrow" secured once again in her slip.  We stopped for a belated dinner at a small restaurant and headed home.

Like I said, sometimes my wife has great ideas.

I have had the exact same experience on several occasions. Makes for a GLORIOUS DAY!!!
The lake we sail on is surrounded by trees and undeveloped shoreline. With no other boats and a nice wind one feels like they "own the world".

Well, to make matters even "worse", we are going out again today.  It's Saturday so the lake will be well populated but the winds are still 10-15 and the skies are clear.  There is a good chance of thunderstorms tomorrow so today is the day!

Best wishes to everyone, on the water or off.
