Just finished setting up my '88-16/3 in the carport for the winter. It's a beautiful version w/bowsprit and brown trim. Sorting out all the goodies in my basement.
The weather has been so cold here it's not even fun in the driveway! I have a Laser for quick fixes but am looking forward to taking it to the Lake when it's warmer. Came all the way from Michigan, worth every stressful moment getting it here!..

As the most recently welcomed (out in the open) member of the discussion board, let me turn around and welcome you with congratulations, fair winds and following seas!  Is this your first com-pac? How did you settle on this model etc?

P.S.  when you say COLD do you mean you have to put on a jacket?  It's hard to relate to what cold means in Chapel Hill sitting in Illinois with temps in the low twenties (warm up from below zero two days ago).  And yes I know there are colder places than here, but that's just wrong!!!

Hi Jeffrey - I'm in Durham, and spent many weekends on Jordan Lake with my 19 (launching from Vista Point) before moving her to the Pamlico River near Washington. There are several 16s that regularly sail on Jordan so you should see some fellow CPers out there. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

I would love to attend the rendezvous at Carlyle especially since its in my home state but we usually take the week of the fourth off and spend it on the Carver on Lake Michigan.  Also, I don't really have the right vehicle for towing the HC.  My odyssey towing capacity is questionable with the HC/diesel.  Really hate to miss this opportunity to share some time on the water with fellow ComPac owners.

Thank you Wes, Sub- I have had several dinghy's and after seeing many Compacs on the water on small and large lakes here in NC, talking w/ owners, thought it's just the right size and more substantial w/weight for my family; with the girls if they want to come. With the dry dock prices around here being raised, think it would be something I can work on while I'm not on the water also. When I had my Tanzer,  it was on the hard in Greensboro and I really missed it being nearby. I thought of a Sannibel but did not think it sailed as well nor looked as sleek as the Compac. Many of the smaller trailer sailors (I think) do not have as much character as the Compac... Looked at Catalina, Macgregor and Montgomery but they were in no way as impressive as the Compac! For now its: give up the convertible and submit to the sea gods and get a real sailboat...   At least I imagine, anything bigger, will not want to trailer it, but have some time and this is going to be with me for quite a while...Fair Winds...
