Hello to all,
This is my first time posting on the CYOA website. My wife and I just recently purchased a beautifully restored 1988 Com-pac 19 "Sweet Pea" and have had her in the water just two times before winter hit.  We are excited to learn everything that we can about Compac boats and specifically the 19s.  We look forward to any events where we can meet and sail with other Compac owners.  Any information regarding events and the Compac 19 would be appreciated...Thanks Matt and Tamie Bradley

Welcome Matt,

As a fellow 19 sailor, you must be a very discerning fellow.

Where are you located?

Tim,

We are located in Orem, Utah and since our last posting we enjoyed a Thanksgiving Day sail and lunch on the water.  We have the boat under a hard roof and hope to get out as many times during the winter but winter isn't the most enjoyable time to sail.  Where are you located? Another question....are there any Compac sailing gatherings near to us in the west besides the HPCC in February?  Thanks for your response.... Also I am looking for some help about what solar panels have been successful for recharging the battery?    Matt

Matt, I recently purchased a CP 23 of 1980 vintage. Com-Pacs are unusually safe and you will find they hold their value extremely well.So many of the problems inherent in fiberglass sailboats don't exist because of the manner of layup, particularly the deck .In the early 80's I spent 3 years in Murray Utah, two days a week I drove a mobile (semi) CT unit to Payson for exams. A beautiful drive, beautiful country. From my house in Murray a mountain range out every window. Are you on Utah Lake? You will love your boat, the retro look that never went modern, proving good taste is never out of style, just out of the ads.

Hey thanks for the response.  We have sailed our boat three times in November in light winds and it was enjoyable and relatively warm. The boat was very stable and easy to manage. I look forward to more outings with more wind.  I just put the boat under a hard roof to wait for better weather. It is going to be a long winter but we may head south to Lake Mead or Havasu in the next few months. Our CP 19 was easy to rig and my wife and I are getting better and quicker with the whole process. We are in Orem...Matt and Tamie Bradley. Give me a call 801-471-4349 and we can plan to put the boats in the water sometime in the future. I would love to see your CP 23.  Regards,   Matt
