Hi all.  I purchased a 1980 Com-Pac 23 the 1st of June.  It needs a lot of TLC but she's structurally sound.  I've lurked a bit and love the forum so far.  Lots of great info on the whole Com-Pac line.  Here's the boat:
.  I'll try my best to contribute to the forum.  So far all I've done is try to pretty up the teak and keep her clean.  Best regards to all

Welcome.  You obviously have good taste in boats.  Looking forward to your posts.

Yes, welcome to this crazy group of Compaconauts! Indeed, you have great taste in boats as does your neighbor to port! I sail a 1985 23/2 so my remarks may be tainted by bias but it's hard to be humble when you sail a 23!
I am extremely jealous that you know how to post a picture on YOUR FIRST POST!!!! It took me almost 2 years and lots of coaching but I'm sure you'll hear more about that from others here.
Where do you sail? I'm in NJ, Barnegat Bay.
We look forward to your future posts!

Yes, welcome. Looks like your in the sunny, swampy, south Georgia, Texas or Louisanna.
An awful lot of sailboats in this harbor. Where might this be?
How do you like the cockpit grate?
And is that a spinnaker pole on the fwd deck?
9.9 hp Nissan and it looks heavy. Need a bridle to lift it?

Keep us informed. Looks like a great boat. Better than the one to the right.

Hi skip.  Your guess is close on my location.  I'm in L.A. (Lower Alabama)  ;D  I've kept her moored in Dog River, Mobile Alabama since purchase.  I bought the boat the day hurricane season started and hoped this didn't bring any bad karma, lol.  Hurricane Isaac was on track for Mobile when it was a few days out.  I scrambled to either get my existing trailer road worthy or buy a new one.  I settled on a new one but I didn't get it till the day the storm arrived.  I was lucky that I didn't get any damage.  We did get some high water and a little wind.  Here's the marina the day after the storm hit to my west:

I plan on hauling the boat out soon before I have to go back to work overseas.  This will give me a great chance to do a thorough hull inspection and start a few projects on it.

lots of good sailing around mississippi sound, mobile bay, st joe bay, and the gulf down there.  do you have a good depth finder for the shallows?  i remember spending a night leaned over 30 degrees in appalachicola bay when i didnt pay enough attention. 8-)

Welcome! This looks like a nice boat!  I too am slightly biased as I have a 81 23', they are great looking boats. We look forward to your updates. I guess with your superb photo posting skills Bob23 is hesitant for the normal request for initiation fees. What is your hull number? Our boats are probably cousins, my 81 is hull number 102. Keep the updates coming!
Happy Sailing!
