some improvements i did  for better mainsheet handeling

the block with cleat can be had for cheap on ebay, i added a spring and a washer, and instaled on the existing padeye,
no drilling,or any fancy instalation required
for those of you on the verge this is a no brainer since it can be instaled so easy

i also added a fiddle block instead of the double block i had, not really necesary but ..oh well

wes

Nice! Is that a Harken fiddle block? Looks way nicer (and probably smoother) than the Ronstan block that's original equipment on my 19. Now you've gone and given me Block Envy. Another project for ever-growing list.

Gabi:
The fiddle block is a good idea. It helps prevent the mainsheet from twisting. I oughta put one on my 23.
Thanks,

yes its a harken 40 mm,
my line is 3/8 ,the max rating for this block, and i was kinda worry it wont work so well, but its as smooth as it can be,.... plus i got it for 18 bucks on ebay

the other its a Nautos from ebay also, and it works beyond expectations

this is so much better than the original set-up,im happy not to feed the line trough the eyelet all the time, even in heavy winds

MacGyver

I replaced the ronstan sheaves on mine with harken sheaves, big difference.
(so they look like ronstan, just better equiped, and didnt have to change the base, Etc.)

The acetyl (white plastic sheave) are still on my 19, but I hope to change them to harken fiddles just because they are supposed to keep from line twisting, etc.

Harken is some nice stuff when you can afford it. I know the bearings hold up better than these Ronstan ones.......

Gabi,
would you post the mfg of the fiddle block and block/cleat/stand shown in the pictures.
Any info such as part numbers and where you bought the parts would be helpful.
thank you very much for pictures and info

Railroad Greg
