Hi everyone I am a new compac owner, I purchased a 1977 com pac 16 on ebay. I think I got a great deal although I haven't got to sail it yet. I purchased the cp to trailer to some locale events that happen here, earlier this year I sailed in the Texas 200 and decided that I really needed a small boat to use in that and to travel to other areas.
I have a Hunter 27 that I really like and enjoy sailing but it draws to much to take in some areas of the coast. Anyway I have some things to do to the cp like running lights and a battery system with a solar charger and put some cushions in the cabin. That is just some of the plans that I have any way looking farward to seeing what goes on here and learning from other cp sailors what they have done to there boats.  Jotruk on Gypsy Gull

welcome! you have a fine boat for what you want.   get a good spare wheel and tire and make sure you have
strong many ply tires.   the boat needs a jib up to sail well to windward.  a 2hp engine is plenty big.  always use bearing buddies or the like to keep the bearings greased.  if you plan, 2 big people can live on a c16 for a week at a time easy. the mast can be put up and down on the water, for going under bridges.  a 1/2 inch plexiglass cabin door can open up the in-cabin experience.

if you have a tiller extension, you can balance the boat and let it sail upright.

a kerosene lantern tied to the topping lift will go all night as an anchor light.

she will seem very solid in pretty big seas if you do it right.
