A couple we know from our yacht club drove down to St. Petersburg, FL and got back about 5:00 pm Tuesday with our boat. I washed her this week, waxed the hull and today we sanded and painted the first coat of paint on the bottom. Hopefully we can get another coat on tomorrow and finish up. I have been getting a lot of compliments from members, it is hard to get any work done with all the interruptions.

Yes, Andy the 23's do draw a lot of attention. I have a 1985 23/2 and just yesterday, as I was approaching my mooring (under sail), I noticed a powerboat full of folks kinda gawking at me. Well, it wasn't me. I overhead one of them speaking to another: "Yeah, that's a Compac 23."
Any photos of your boat?

Actually they were gawking at you saying, "Yeah thats that Bob23"

Sounds like Compac 23 when you are going by, the water rippling and all that.........
They probably talked about your legendary tales then. And tilted a few back in your honor.

Andy, I like the 23s, get pics as soon as you can, we saw the Greene's during CLR, Nice boats

Due to some other happenings, I was unable to see inside, but none the less, if we had, my wife would have wanted to move up, and I cant afford to do that. LOL

Gawking at me? More like "Stay clear of that guy...I hear he hits things."

I bought a used C-23 three years ago and continue to be amazed by the number of people who say nice things about Compacs of all sizes. Usually, they have had a 19 and woud have upsized to a -23 but a developing family changed their mind. The fellow in the slip next to me moved from a -19 to a Sabre 28. He told me that it is nice to have my boat next to his so he can admire what he really had wanted. I initially thought that everyone was saying nice things because no one ever says "Oh my God! Didn't someone warn you?" But now, I realize they really mean what they say.

This was just before we launched yesterday. She is pretty on her trailer but still prettier in the water. Sailed yesterday and again today with a wonderful instructor from our yacht club. I love the way Com-Pac 23's sail, feels real stable and very safe.

We took our boat out with our instructor for a couple of hours in light winds and afterwards moved her to her new dock at Port Royal Marina. Had to go around a parked barge that didn't make it any easier. Docking is the hardest thing for me right now but I know it will get easier with more practice.
