Hello all,

I am new to the list.  Have fallen in love with the CP16 and am currently searching.  I am hoping to find a restoration project for the winter.  Good to be here, there seems to be lots of info.

Welcome!  I'm new here too, having bought a CP-16 last week.  I will have PLENTY to do this winter!  They are neat little boats.  Good luck in your search.

Thanks for the encouragement.  How long did your search take?  I am wondering how far I have to go to find one of these beauties.  I did find one down in FL that has a pretty bad keel.  I want to try her but I don't know if it is worth it.  Gerry at Hutchins said it was possible to get a new fiberglass keel but might be cost prohibitive.

If it were me, I wouldn't bother fixing one with a bad keel.  There are too many of these boats to be had in better shape for little money.  Figure one in near perfect condition goes for about $3500, and adjust down from there.  The majority seem to be in the $1000-2000 range and don't need anything the typical owner isn't capable of doing.

Try EBay, Boat Trader, Boats.com, sailingtexas.com and I guarantee you'll find quite a few.

Here's one I found on sailingtexas already:

Good luck.

Read my Free compac 16 post.  I stumbled upon this boat in my local paper.  Previous owner didnt know what it was.  I just got back from a peaceful weekday afternoon sail, :D

Welcome,
I just picked up my "project" for the winter as well. Found her on ebay and was within 200 miles away, not too bad.

Good luck boat hunting!
