You guys are within good fortune.

Carlyle Lake yesterday, just as I left work at 3, a giant burst came, and capsized 7 boats according to reports..... had to be right as I was leaving.... that wind was crazy.
Was enough to blow some adults onto the pavement as I slowly crept behind them.....

One customer (no idea who or the circumstance) said they were in the race and the wind hit and blew them all the way around 360............

Must have just had the headsail up..... no clue.... cant wait to find out who it was.

Be safe!

Wow! Mike- quite a tale...glad you are safe.
Sounds like you were a decisive skipper having a competent, fearless crew! I haven't gotten in similar conditions with my 23 but did get hit with a squall complete with lightning and thunder while sailing in my Seapearl 21 which weighs less than half of what our keels weigh. It started out a crystal clear day with no adverse weather forecast. While sailing in Barnegat Bay, coincidentally right in front of one of my bayfront customers homes, I was suddenly surrounded by torrential rain, lightning and thunder. All in an open boat weighing 600 lbs. As one of my customers looked out there window, seeing me but not knowing it was me, all they could say was "Who is that idiot out there sailing?". When I landed on their beach, they found out.
The same day, a young guy throwing a football on the beach about 10 miles to the north on a cloudless day, was struck dead by a stray bolt of lightening. He had no warning, no thunder, no rain. Here one moment, gone the next...creepy!
