Ahoy CYOA site members! My girlfriend and I just picked up a 1991 Com-Pac 16 here in S.E. MI and cant wait to get her out on the lakes. This site is unbelievable for its information, knowledge base and cast of characters, PLEASE keep up the great work here.

Welcome Virgil and GF.  The 16 is a great boat.  Are you new to sailing or an old hand?  Where do plan to sail?

"...cast of characters...". Hmmm, I wonder who those guys are?

Let's see some pic's real soon.

Welcome aboard!  I have an '83 16 that I bought at the end of last summer.  I live in the Ann Arbor area.  Maybe our paths will cross at some point.

Hi guys. I live up Wixom way...plan on getting out to Lac St. Clair, and up into Saginaw Bay this spring...who knows after that? One of the spreaders was cracked so I ordered a new set from ComPac...if I dont get them soon, I'll just make some myself. My GF and I couldn't wait to get her out so we dropped into Wolverine Lake without setting the mast just to see if it would float. It has a Bimini and when we put it up and started motoring around, I couldn't help but feel a little like Bogey in African Queen! I had an old 1934 Vinyard Haven 21 sloop as a kid...what a great boat. After that, just rode Hobies...the GF has been on Hobies as well. Then we went to Antigua last X mas where we rented an old style Bahamian Fishboat-40 footer-and fell in love with sailing all over again..so we bought the ComPac...figuring the trailerable aspect would open some adventures for us. Thanx for the warm welcome and yes, we may cross paths somewhere out there...Will post pics soon.

Keep us updated on your adventures.  There has been talk of some of us in the SE Michigan and Ohio area doing a trip out to the Erie Islands, off Sandusky, OH, sometime in the summer.  I need some more practice before venturing out into the Great Lakes, but I hope we can make it happen.

Yes, welcome Virgil and girlfriend of Virgil:
I agree that this site is unbelievable! Sometimes  even I can't believe that it's real and I'm pretty gullable! And as for cast of characters, well, does that imply we are actors? Hmm...don't know how to take that. If your'e Bogey, is your GF Katharine Hepburn? Can't wait to meet her.
In this cast, I have to ask, who am I? Moe, Larry or Curly? Or am I Doc Brown in "Back to the Future"? I'll leave that answer to some of the other characters lurking around the set here at CPYOA.
Looking forward to more posts and photos of your adventures aboard you 16. Does she have a name?

Hello again guys! Well, after studying all your information about Mast crutches, I spent all day making one..not sure though, should I (attempt to) post pics here or in the ComPac 16 area? Were there instructions on how to post pictures here somewhere? My photos are on my desktop currently. Thanx in advance.

"cast of characters" . . .? . . I resemble that remark! . . . Yep, I think there's a little bit of Three Stooges here, or maybe its Laurel & Hardy go to a ComPac Rendezvous ?

Any other good roles for us ???

I gotta go now, have an audition to play the Titantic Captn role . .

-rs :)
