Hi Guys and Gals -

Pegasus is off to Bayville today for her first sail on the Bay this season. I'll be listening on channel 16 if anybody else is out there. Should be really nice, 78 degrees with 5 - 10 out of the SW. I'll fit the genoa for this one. Looking to hit the ramp around 13 or 1400. Took a shakedown cruise on the Delaware Thursday afternoon. Gusts to 25 and a strong upriver current - fun! Didn't use the jib, didn't need to. Tried out the "new" Minn Kota 36 pounder - worked very well. Plan on testing a friends Honda 2.2 on the Bay this afternoon.

hi Marty,
great to hear from you!   good luck with your trip today - what a beautiful day to be on the water!    we spent the day working on trails around our house, but next week we are planning on visiting Toms river to see how  Adagio fared the winter.   Hopefully, she will be in the water soon after that..   I look forward to hearing about your trip.    jt

Hey, Marty: Your'e back! I thought you moved to Sweden on us and traded your CP 16 for and old 122! 'Twas a great day to sail....so I worked. My 23 won't be in till the middle of June this year...too many projects that I must finish:
Barrier coat on the bottom. Rebed all stanchions, bow and stern rails. Teak varnishing. And general cleaning up. Yadada!
Glad you had a great day...stay tuned for the famous Barnegat Bay Bash 2012. Any thoughts on dates and availability? How 'bout you, JT? Yeah, I know your reading this!

you bet i am reading this!   can't wait to get down to TR..  as for dates, i am about as flexible this year as ever.. so  how about every weekend?  :)   or maybe, pick out the weekend that makes the most sense for you all, and I should be able to work it in.    I am still waiting on a new headsail to be delivered, and the old one is gone,  so i am getting just a bit nervous .. although i was just assured that it would be finished this week.    if the weather cooperates, we will be down to work on the boat next weekend.. and then hopefully, it will be in the water soon after that.   my son is planning on coming down from NH  during the first week of june.  we are hoping to take our first overnight trip - maybe a few nights - during that time..    we will be in touch!

Hi guys!

ADAGIO, ADAGIO, ADAGIO. This is PEGASUS. Do you copy? Hey, I tried. My first opportunity to try out the new VHF and nobody answered! Anyhoo, I didn't trade for a 122 (hmm, a '72 1800? Nah!). But, I did meet up with friend Alex in Bayville. We ventured out into a beautifully crafted day. Light winds were fine, made good use of the Jenny after an hour experimenting with the Honda 2.2. Pretty sweet iron wind for sure (except it's aluminum wind - weighs a hefty 29 pounds!).

After a pleasant day on the Bay, had a light dinner with Alex who then returned to Up the Creek Marina to work on his beautiful 24 footer. He was going to spend the night on board, brrr.

Drive home was uneventful, until I crossed the Delaware into Morrisville, PA. Bridge Street is somewhat of a mess and my little 8" wheels took a beating - to the extent that the axle broke! After driving 114 miles, it quit about 1 mile from home! Nice cops from Morrisville and Falls assisted me, but Pegasus wasn't going anywhere without wheels. Long story, short: Ordered in a flatbed and had it dropped in front of my home. Finally got to bed about 2 am.

Checking the axle in the morning showed only a little crack - all the way through! It was thoroughly rusted so I can't blame it all on Morrisville. Besides, I was damn lucky that it failed when it did. I could have been on I-195 cruisin' at 60. Not pretty.

As you know, the Magic Tilt trailer is all galvanized steel, but evidently the axle isn't. I noticed that replacement axles are galvanized - duh. I'll check with Magic Tilt tomorrow about a replacement axle and also contact Northern Tool & Equipment about an entire suspension replacement. They offer axle, springs and hubs for about two hundred bucks. Seems reasonable. Just want to make sure its an exact fit.

Look forward to the Barnegat Bay Bash 2012.

More later.

hey Marty,
that is quite the story!  glad you made it home safely..   it sounds like you are going to end up with a trailer that is better than new!   I am hoping to make it to bayville this coming weekend..   today we spent on our bikes on the lehigh gorge trail..  part of the D & L trail which makes its way all the way down to your neck of the woods..   we just might attempt it in june..   why not.. it is all down hill from here :)   probably about 130 miles all together..  we will see if that comes to fruition..  looking forward to getting together with you on barnegat bay..   jt

Bob23 - Late June or sometime in July should be good... I hope! The 1st Mate is getting a new kitchen. Cabinets have already been bought and are waiting to be built and installed. Old kitchen wall is about to be demo'd. That should happen sometime within the next two weeks. Kitchen is going from 100 square feet to about 200! It will probably be h**l around here for a while... I can't wait 'til its over! I see a lot of "takeout" or "go-out" in my future. After what seems forever, grass is finally growing in the backyard. Now it's going to be chewed up. Oh, well - the 1st Mate will be turning out some fine grub. Sooner is better than later.

At least I got some CP16 projects done: Built forward and aft mast crutches. Work real well. Mast is now held about a foot above the cabin. Installed a pair of teak rails above the portholes. Never too much stuff to grab onto!
