I was thinking of Replacing UV cover on rolling furler myself. I did a search to see if anyone has done this and no hits.
Should I double think doing this and let a sail maker do this?
I found some 4.5 oz material 54" wide for $20.00 a yard. They also have it in other colors besides blue.
How much would a sail house charge to do this?

Sailmaker in Panama City, FL charged me $90 to completely resew my UV cover.  The material was still good but it had separated from the sail .  this was on a 110 for a 23.  I was going  to do it myself, but ran out of time before a cruise.

"Replacing UV cover on rolling furler" when the fuler was added the UV strip was also added. Twice now because the skipper was careless and due to storms while sailing the UV was shaken off. And so once again the UV was sewn back on by my trusted seamstress Celeste. $75.00 this time. It was bad.

skip never learns but he had fun shaking out the sails.

If your sewing machine isn't powerful, you may find that you cannot sew through the layers of sailcloth and UV cover (especially at seams and reinforcement points).  Check that before you commit to doing it yourself. You'll want to use at least a #18 if not #20 needle.

Thanks for the info I will double check the specs on the machine. My son is the sew'r in the house he should know.

If I can get it fixed from sail care for around 100bucks I just may do that.
