SOLD to Don in TN.  Enjoy, the boat Don!

1982 Com-pac 16 for sale. Columbus, OH  $3,900

This is my brothers boat which he barely used.  I owned it from 2006-2009 and know it inside and out.  You can ask me questions and talk to my brother to make arrangements.

Nice upgrades and a good boat. Freshwater only.  Ready to sail, nothing "needed" except the teak could use refinishing and it's probably a little dirty. Hull is sound with no blisters. Bottom paint 2010. Still have leftover paint for when needed. Interior is sound, no soft spots. Cabin cushions are only fair and probably should be redone. Interior teak is in very good condition. Interior painted white, except teak.  No electronics or battery. Newer sails and also original Johnson sails. Gelcoat is in good condition, a few scratches from the dock but nothing unusual.  I polished it out a few years ago and it could probably use a compounding again.  Sunbrella Brown Tweed main sail cover.  Danforth anchor with chain and line. Docklines.  Fenders. Life jackets.  Tow line.  Fire extinguisher. Small cockpit table. Other extras. Bow Pulpit.  Front vent with scoop.  Disclaimer:  I am assuming all of this little stuff hasn't got lost or for whatever reason not found.  But, he should have everything. If not, he'll knock off the price accordingly.

Trailer is a magic tilt with newer winch line, wheels/tires, lights and wiring, bearings lubed 2009 and it has bearing buddies.  Freshwater launched only. It's in good condition and highway worthy.  Spare tire and mount.  Forward outboard motor bracket and two custom fitted mast crutches are also included--this rig tows well and is easy to setup and takedown.

Refited in 2010
Bottom Paint
Waterline stripe tape
Short Walnut Tiller (still have IDA full size tiller)

Refitted or added in 2009:
New 2009 Tohatsu 3.5hp 4 stroke long shaft
New Garelick motor mount
New Garelick swim ladder
FX Sails Main, loose footed
FX Sails 155% genoa on homemade PVC roller furling with mahagony spool base
Rugging rigging. Salsa Mainsheet, Bzzz genoa sheet, XLS Halyard, Amsteel Topping Lift
Hutchins Chainplates
Ronstan Halyard cam cleat and standup block
Ronstan Genoa track on Teak coaming rail with bullseye camcleats
Ronstan mainsheet swivel block/camcleat
Ronstan Mainsheet blocks
Starboard Companionway board
Windex 15

Refitted 2008
IDA Flip Up Rudder Assembly (not just the blade but an entire flip up/kick down system) with new tiller (and a shorter walnut version)
Teak cockpit coaming rail, raised off coaming (genoa tracks fitted 2009)

Refitted 2007
Standing Rigging
Mast rollers

$3900 OBO. PM me here or email  mcarpent at columbus dot rr dot com

Pictures here, note the boat now has blue bottom paint and the teak doesn't look quite as good in the pics anymore.

Now THAT is how you post to the classifieds!

Edit:  Sounds like my brother is working on varnish and cleanup as we speak.  So the boat should be ready to go and looking good.

It also has a tiller cover matching the sail cover which I forgot to mention.

Also should have said $3900 "or best offer".  Price is negotiable (shhhhhh..I think he would take $3500 for it but you didn't hear that from me).  Less than what it would cost to restore on to this condition and with new motor/rudder/sails, etc.

Boat will going up on e-bay pretty soon I suspect so if you're interested, let me know

Surprised there has been no interest to date.   Is the price too high?  It won't hurt my feelings if you say so...   This is a solid refitted boat with several newer add-ons (motor, sails, rudder).

Boat is in the water ready to be test-sailed if anyone is interested.

Where else do you have it advertised? I checked the usual free sites and didn't find it. If you're only posting it here that's a pretty small audience. Plus most folks here already have a boat.

Oh and based on what they are listed for elsewhere I'd say it's on the upper end of the asking price spectrum.

I'd recommend you check out http://www.sailingtexas.com/cboats99compac161982.html and see what they have been going for, compare your boat and adjust as needed.

Salty19

Yep, it compares favorably IMO (or better) to the higher end priced models in sailingtexas.com.   With new sails, motor, IDA rudder, motor mount, ladder, blocks, lines, rigging, bottom paint. tons of extras and very nice teak handrails--garage kept for most of it's life...this one is definitely among the nicest available.  Also nothing to fix, mend, paint, rig, etc. It's ready to go.  I think whoever looks it will see that everything has been done right too.

I thought he had it advertised on Craigslist (remember, this is not my boat...it's my OLD boat).  But I can't say for sure.

With this said, I think he is softening up on the price a bit.   I can't speak for what he would take, but probably a lot less than the asking price.

My guess is if he puts it on sailingtexas or sailboatlistings it will be gone relatively quick.

One thing for certain is even if you put 100K into a 50K boat, it's still a 50K boat. Same applies to a 3K boat.

But then again all it takes is the right buyer, the right seller, the right boat and a little luck!

Edit to add: I just checked out the photos. The homemade roller may be a tough sell, even if it works great right now, it's unproven.

Billy

Still a great deal compared to that one guy trying to sell his '85 for 6k and "not budging".

Hang in there Salty. That boat well sell for that price. Did you ever get the pic for me???? Thanks Chuck

Salty19

Not yet, Chuck. As I mentioned the boat is across the city and I haven't made it over there to get a picture for you.  I may actually have one somewhere on my other PC though.  I will look soon--hang in there.  Come to think of it, he may have the boat in the water already.

Bmiller, I have to agree about the furler.  With that said, it's holding up pretty well for what it is.  I wouldn't hesitate to use the design again for a small boat.    Anything much bigger though...probably not.

Have you been looking in sailingtexas? There's a few on the east coast. They come and go pretty quick. If you find one jump on it.
There's one here in Colorado that's a little rough but the price is right.
