Well Folks we finally got to go sailing this year.  Took Friday off work and the weather looked great. And it was!  We hooked Sweet Dreams up and went over our checklist.  You do have a checklist don't you?  If not your sure to forget the suntan lotion or something important.
We went to Lake Delavan in South Eastern Wisconsin.  It is 5 times longer than wide and the wind was blowing from East to West the length of the lake.  Great , I thought, easy sail.
Launch went really good.  We practiced rigging the boat in the driveway a couple of times late last year.
Lake Delavan has this really long channel that you have to motor, or sail out of before getting to the real lake.  We motored and I was glad the old 4.5 Evinrude started on the 3rd or 4th pull.  Off we went.
Sailing down wind was nice.  Easy and we commented on how great it was to have the CP-19.  Ours is a 1983.
Got to the far, down wind end of the lake and tacked fine to head back up to the beach end, East, into the wind.
Well, I thought the wind was coming a little across the lake and it would be an easy sail up.  WRONG.  Tack, tack again, The 83 Compac is not the Best going into the wind.  We made progress.  Once, I tacked and lost my beloved Compac hat into the lake.  Think I could get turned around fast enough to retrieve it?  Nope! gone to the underwater god of lake Delavan, Wisconsin!!!
We both got sunburned a little, it was great!!!  Can't wait till we get out again.

Oh by the way, the new foiled rudder I made worked perfect!
Till next time.

Good to hear you folks are on the water.  We hope you enjoy your 19 as much as we do ours.

Hiya Doug and Linda,

Glad you guys finally got out!   Did you have your jib up for tacking home?  If not, could be why you couldn't tack home too well.  Makes all the difference.
Just looked at your pics.  The boat is looking great!  I can tell you've been spending some time with it.

C you in Aug at the Rendezvous!
