Just wanted to say hi! I bought a 1981 CP16 a few weeks ago. Honestly, one of the reasons for the CP was this site! I did a bunch of research and wanted a boat that had good availability of parts and info. This site is incredible. Thanks to all of you for the great info.

I know it's useless without pics--I'll post up soon. Wish i had "before" pics, but I want to forget about what it looked like a few weeks ago! I got the boat pretty cheap, but it needed a lot of work, even for a little used lake boat. I stripped the interior, including fiberglass lining and loose concrete, pulled the flotation foam under the cockpit and repainted the whole thing. On the outside, i got the old numbers off (a much harder project than I thought), stripped the bottom paint, recoated it with Interlux epoxy below the waterline, compounded and waxed it.

Got it in the water yesterday and she looks great! Picking up a motor today and hoping to go sailing. The to-do list is long, but for now I just want to sail it and have a little floating tent to camp out with my daughter every once in a while.

Thanks again for all of the tips.

Welcome Bk!  It really is a great group and factored into my getting a CP16 last season as well.  As you may have found, the search function is invaluable in finding answers.  It's great to hear you've brought one back from the edge!  I'm afraid I'm not very handy like that, which is why I found one in great shape.  I figure it will let me learn a little at a time.  Where will you be sailing her?
