Just wondering if anyone has done some kind of latches on those two seat hatches ???  Locking?  And does the latch get in your way, i.e. scratch the back of your leg?
If left at a slip one would think they might need to be secured some way.
Any thoughts on this?

mine has locking latches,

however you just reminded me, one of the hinges on the port side broke on my last outing. I will be needing to get that replaced!

Not on my boat. Something to snag my skin and rip it open.

skip.

As to the security of your hatches;

I particularly like the "dog "concept my self but I guess those lap dogs have to be by your side every minute leaving the boat unattended when your not on board.

I have met a few dobies over my years, all were great dogs.

I my self raised Great Danes and none were sea worthy dogs!

Hi Doug,

I installed Perko 1287 "cabin door hooks" on my 23 about 15 years ago.  I'm not sure which of the three available lengths I used.  Weather stripping is also installed under the seat hatch, and it must be compressed somewhat with hand pressure so as to make the hook latch; the hook does not vibrate or have any tendency to unhook.  The installation dimensions should be fairly accurate.

If your boat was to suffer a knockdown, the hatch could open and flood the bilge.  Small Craft Advisor has a "Seaworthiness Test" on their site; you get an additional two points for "Cockpit lockers Fitted with hasps".  I also installed a hook on the gas tank cover to prevent its loss it in the event of a knockdown.

As far as I know no crew member has been injured or scratched over the years.  This Perko hardware is as flush and smooth as can be expected, and still looks new.  They can not be locked.
