New Member Introduction and Thank You

Hi,

I just joined and already I have learned a lot about my Com-Pac 16 from others' posts here.

Although I have sailed for many years, I am now enjoying my little (downsized) C-16. 

I recently sold my Catalina 22 and my Butterfly and now I am in the process of selling my Contessa 26 in anticipation of a move from Sarasota, FL to Portland, OR.

The Com-Pac 16 is absolutely great for what I plan to do with her (sail camping on lakes in the Northwest) and it can go to windward at 70 MPH so it has a very good "cruising range".

The Com-Pac 16 may not be seen as a "performance boat" but she is well built and offers a great potential for performance improvement. 

My rotating mast modification made a huge difference in the way the main sail works and it moved the draft forward enough to get rid of much of the weather helm she had before. 

Special thanks to Doug142 for his help on my next boat improvement project, a NACA foil rudder.

Welcome and Happy New Year.  The Northwest is underrepresented here, maybe a consequence of Com-pac being made in Florida.  CP16 is a great boat for trailering and lake sailing.

   cant tell you how much i have enjoyed my 16. couldnt be a better for a solo trailer sailor . rigs with ease. even though we havent spent a night aboard (well she hasnt) that little cabin is fantastic storage for daysailors like us. on top of all that---no centerboard to fuss with. welcome aboard.
