Thanks folks, for lots of neat tips and tricks and info that I never would have learned without this site. I want to mention a few of them here as other new sailors to the Com-Pac world may not have perused the depths of this site like I have(I'm retired). And a couple of these items will definitely ease your life. Let's see, one of the simplest and neatest comes from, I think, Brackish(great name btw). A cotter pin inserted at a 30 degree down angle as a sail stop. Pure genius! Then I think it was Skip who mentioned Dwyer Aluminum Mast Co. What a find for me. I have never been too keen on the way the mast of my '82 sits on the cabin top, bare edge of the mast on glass. Don't know if that's the way it was designed, but when I checked out the Dwyer mast accessories and saw the hinged step, I wanted one. I was also happy to read that another Com-Pac sailor also has experience raising and dropping a Hobie 16 mast which I have done a hundred times by myself, and he says it ain't much different. I was getting nervous with all the discussion on the topic! Greene, Salty and Curtis have been generally very helpful, as well as others who's names escape me at the moment, and I can't leave out Barnegat Bob23 who now will be giving me lots of great pics all winter. I am not sure I trust that he really knows how old his father in law is though - that Dude is looking fine!
Well might be off for last sail today. They are going to haul and stow me somewhere where I can drop(eww, bad word) lower the mast for the first time! Not going anywhere as no trailer yet, but need to check out all the wiring and doodads up there. Also want to see what lower/raise is all about cause when I get that trailer....

Yeah, the last sail is often bittersweet for me...mine might be today or next week- I'm scheduled for a 11/19 haulout. I always try to stay in long enough for a Black Friday Sail while my wife is at the mall enjoying her Black Friday Sale! Yuk...I was not born a mall-man.
I probably spend way too much time here  but I enjoy learning all I can and the comradrie ain't bad either.

Agreed man, and I love your Sail/sale poetry. I buy on line to avoid crowds and stores.
See if this comes across from yesterday...
