Question on CP27 crew capacity

I have admired CP27 for many years after have owned CP16 and CP19.  I have never spent nights in one and wondering if anyone can tell me if the V berth can comfortably accommodate a couple (6' and 5'5").

Also, in some models I noticed the side berth backrest cushion flips up and can be attached to cabin ceiling to form another berth like a double bunk.  Is this arrangement sturdy enough for sleeping or if it is intended storage only.

Thanks.

Hi,
The vee berth on the 27 is probably as adequate as any other in a boat this size. I did have to make teak brackets to keep the filler cushion from falling off every time you moved- an easy fix. My wife and I are 5-10 and 5-7 and the room is adequate. We added a small two speed Hella Turbo Fan for additional air movement, as the hatch is a little too far to the rear of the boat to give a good direct shot of air to the sleeping area. That said, we have started using the drop-down double on the port side- more comfortable space-wise and easier to get to the head or cockpit without going through the contortions of exiting and entering the vee berth. We've never used the sea berths on the starboard side. The top one is too high and accentuates movement in a seaway. The lower one is acceptable for the off watch person to jam into on a port tack, and the addition of a decent lee cloth would help. We have found the port settee to be the best for off watch resting if on a starboard tack- you get nestled in from the boat's heel and you are low and central in the vessel, minimizing unsettling motion.

The V-berth is more than adequate for two. I'm 6'0" and my wife is 5'10", we have plenty of room. Our boat is modified so both seat backs swing down instead of up to access the storage. Actually works pretty good.
We live by the 6-4-2 rule, 6 for cocktails, 4 for dinner and 2 for sleeping.

I am 6'2 and sleep in the V berth regularly. I have a fan but have not yet used it - I found the hatch adequate, but that depends of course on wind, temperature and humidity outside.
